God helped the jews when they were true to Him, but otherwise He punished them. After the exile they came back to Judea, and honoured God. Therefore, He helped Judith to cut off the head of Holofernes, commander of the enemy.

God hielp de Joden als ze hem trouw waren, en anders strafte Hij hen. Na de ballingschap kwamen zij weer in Judea, en brachten God eer. Daarom hielp Hij Judith, zodat zij het hoofd van de vijandelijke bevelhebber Holofernes kon afslaan.

Deus auxilium tulit Judaeis, dum laudabant eum, sed punitus est eos dum non. Post exilium redierunt in Judaeam, et laudaverunt Deum. Ideo Ipse auxilium tulit pro Judith, ut possit caedere caput ab duce Holofernes inimicorum.
